Day 40. Umagico.

 We are going our own way today.  Yvonne and Gunther have decided to leave their van in Weipa and just drive the rest. We're taking our van so will be a lot slower. Hopefully we'll do the 'Tip' together on Wednesday.  We're all booked to do a boat trip and tour of Thursday Island on Thursday.

Well our 'plan' went out the door. We are now in Umagico, on the west coast 40kms from the Tip. The drive, while bumpy in spots, was a lot easier than we anticipated so we did it all in 1 day.

We took the short cut through Batavia Downs, we saved about 70kms going this way. The road had water crossings,  cattle, corrugations and beautiful countryside.

Stopped at Bramwell Junction roadhouse for an early lunch. We were planning on stopping the night but decided to go on as it was only 11.45am.

We have set up camp at a little town called Umagico, just south of Seisia. We're staying here for 4 nights. Our view 💕

The van is filthy. Red dust managed to get in today and the toilet roll cover fell off but pretty good considering the roads we have been on.

Today we travelled 387kms hitched, taking the total hitched to 3,071kms.
